The bulk of the collection consists of copies of clippings, including biographies of congregants and rabbis, congregation
activities, and stories related to the ground breaking ceremony at the Carmel location. In addition, the collection also contains
a 25th anniversary booklet of the congregation.

Congregation Beth Israel was formed in Monterey, California, in 1954, before settling in Carmel in 1987. It currently occupies
a building that has stained glass windows that were from San Francisco's congregation Beth Israel.
